Cheer Success at the Grapevine Invitational

On Saturday, January 12, 2019, The Crandall High School Varsity Cheer Team attended the Grapevine Invitational competition.  This invite-only competition is used as a competition to help prepare for the state UIL competition.

CHS Cheer had a very successful weekend.  They received accolades for “Best Fight Song,” “Best Band Chant,” “Best Cheer,” and ultimately swept the competition by winning the Grand Champion title for districts 4A and Under.

The Junior Varsity Team also attended and won the Junior Varsity division.

CHS Cheer can next be seen on Friday, January 18, 2019, as they defend their state title at the state UIL competition.  CHS also qualified for the National competition, and they will be traveling to Orlando for the Nationals on February 8, 2019.

Senior Branson Bragg signs letter of intent with Stanford University

On December 19, 2019, on the last day of the fall semester, Senior Branson Bragg signed his national letter of intent with Stanford University, in the most unique signing ceremony Crandall ISD has ever seen.

Bragg, an exceptional student, and proud Offensive Lineman for the Crandall Pirates, is also a member of the award-winning Crandall High School Jazz Band.  Branson opened his signing ceremony by playing jazz piano alongside his jazz band mates.  Band Director John Nutt, and Athletic Director Joe Dale Cary spoke about Branson as a student and both testified to his exceptional character as a leader.  Branson posed for pictures with his family and signed his letter with Stanford University.  Members of local Kaufman County media were also present.

Branson received over 20 offer letters from Universities across the country before committing to Stanford in August.  He has been a standout athlete, musician and student during his time with Crandall ISD.  He was selected as the 2018 Offensive Line MPV district 9-4A, 2018 academic all-state football, 2017 first team all-state in football and the 2016 Offensive Newcomer of the year for District 8-4A.

Additionally, Bragg is also the UIL 4A state Track and Field champion in shot put and the bronze medal holder in discus.
